Lage y Cía. S.A. is a Uruguayan company whose objective is to provide cutting-edge technology products and services for agricultural production.
Since its inception the company has dedicated to and specialized in research and development of biological products, being a pioneer in the formulation of inoculants and activities of legume seed treatment with bacteria of the genus Rhizobium.
The need for inoculants that would allow Biological Nitrogen Fixation arose in Uruguay in 1951, when several institutions related to the agricultural sector concluded that the inclusion of forage legumes to improve productivity and quality of pastures was a priority. Great commitment to research in legume inoculation led a group of entrepreneurial technicians to formulate the first inoculants in Uruguay and the region at about the middle of the last century, some of which, later and with great vision, the company Lage y Cía. S.A.
